Ameeth-Vox and Guitars
Sid:Guitars and backing Vox
Jerry:Drums
Craig:Bass and backing vox.

BIOGRAPHY ::

What do you get when you put a drummer with heavy metal roots, a guitarist with classic rock roots, a bassist crazy about Jazz and a very ‘volatile’ vocalist, in one band? JUNKYARD GROOVE This band has carved its own unique niche in the Indian rock scene, fusing rock with funk to give an uplifting style that reaches out to all ages; wowing the audience with a tight, high energy, flawless, musical stage performance. Ever since its conception in the summer of 2005, Junkyard Groove was nothing but your silly sense of humour trying to be creative and once it got rolling there was really nothing anybody wanted to do in terms of changing direction or slowing down the pace of things. With an inspirational songwriter in Ameeth and equally brilliant musicians in Jerry, Sid and Craig the band came up with some “wicked” compositions with truckloads of promise. The competition held at Le Royal meridian Chennai saw the band land up in second place, bagging the best guitarist award and probably the best verbally outrageous band award, if ever one existed. From there on the band tasted sweet victory at JIPMER winning best band, vocalist, guitarist, drummer and own composition and the second best bassist and rhythm in SPANDAN 2005. Next stop was one of the bands most memorable gigs at NLS’ Strawberry Fields, an extremely excellent experience, with loads of love and respect to all the people who made it feel like home. Madras Christian College came next and that saw very similar results with best band and best drummer. But the main highlight of the evening was, that from the previous show in Bangalore (NLS Strawberry Fields) the band grew a small fan base which resulted in the audience randomly requesting for their songs. Next up, home town competition at IIT Madras was great fun. The band made it through to the finals and walked away with best guitarist and a fancy Fender as a prize. Junkyard Groove came back to their favourite haunt JIPMER to perform at the SPANDAN 2006 pro show. A kick-ass performance at SHAMAL, Dubai saw them emerge victorious and landed them a 3 year recording contract with Creative Kingdom Records, USA. The band was the opening act at Dubai’s Desert Rock Festival 2007 opening for the likes of IRON MAIDEN, INCUBUS and ROBERT PLANT.

Old Saying Jungle(Bangalore)

November 22, 2007

GENRE :: Funk / Experimental / Grunge

BAND MEMBERS ::

Sandeep Madhavan - Bass Guitar
Mel D'Mello - Electric Guitar
Aditya Menon - Vocals
Greg Hamra - Drums

BIOGRAPHY ::

A bunch of experimental, wise, improbably funky, jazzy, groovy love kamikazes, Old Jungle Saying is based in one of the lazy layouts of the southern city of Bangalore, India. Influenced by the likes of Primus, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Infectious Grooves and a whole lot of other bands whose genealogy is hard to trace, Old Jungle Saying serves up sumptuous slabs of psychedelic funk, held in place by the riotous rhythm section of Sandeep Madhavan (bass) and Greg Hamra on drums. As they steer the mothership through the murky, quirky guitars of Mel D’Mello and the spaced-out funkiness emanating from resident hippie Avijit Michael, the charismatic gurgling of Aditya Menon can be heard calling the faithful from above the rarified groove.

About Thermal And A Quarter (TAAQ)
Thermal And A Quarter is a trendsetting rock band from Bangalore, India, more recently infamous as the outsourcing capital of the universe. We are three members, three albums and ten years old. We are known as TAAQ to the affectionate and the impatient and have been fortunate to earn the loyalty of a worldwide fan base mostly thanks to that little ditty that Al Gore claims he started, the Internet. We believe that each album sold, each swatch of music played creates a potential messenger of TAAQ’s music.

Sandeep Gnanakan (Lead Guitars)

Subhramani.S (Drums)

Prony Melvin (Bass)

BIOGRAPHY ::

The band 5 AM was formed in aug’ 05.We used to have impromptu jams with jus an acoustic guitar at sandeep’s place.This was in early 2004 when all of us were going for guitar classes.We had an overnight party at sandeep’s place and on the following morning we suddenly decided to form a band and thought we should be serious about our music.We had no proper equipments and prony played the drums on a shoe stand with books arranged on it when he was Bassless and when the band had no drummer..We found a drummer named Santosh in aug ’05 and got the equipments we wanted.We wanted a wacky name for the band and came up with the name “5 Aphrodisiac Munks” and finally settled with “5 AM”. The band 5 AM was born.

The Band got an oppurtunity to play in a cafe called espressophilia and that was our first ever break.We were confused and rusty initially but the sunday jam in feb’06 was the turning point in the band’s music.We were tagged cliched and confused but that particular gig was a learning experience for the band.We realised that we need to do what we are good at and not experiment too much.So we went back to our roots and stuck to alternative/punk rocks which is our kinda music.We started to play a lot more regularly after the band members were done with the academics.Our Drummer Santosh had to leave the band due to his professional commitments and the band was in search of a new drummer.That was when we found Subhramani who was introduced to us by a common friend.Subbu as he is called was a perfect fit for the band and played his first gidg with us at Barista Unplugged.The band has seen radical shift after the inclusion of Subbu as the drummer.

Threinody(Bangalore)

November 18, 2007

GENRE :: Progressive Thrash Metal

BAND MEMBERS ::

Premik Jolly : Lead and Rhythm Guitar and Keyboards
Siddharth Naidu : Bass Guitar and Vocals
Satish Raj : Drums,backing vocals

BIOGRAPHY ::

In the Year Nineteen hundred ninety six, in the bustling heart of the Indian Garden City, Bangalore, arose three restless teenage souls with a common vision, of exploring the art of creating an intense aural and visual experience. This small band of musicians evolved into an entity, titled Threinody, a name derived from the language of the ancient Greeks, signifying a song of grief, a dirge. Threinody is a combination of three life forces.

This trio engaged themselves in creating a sound, shaped by various sources of inspiration, ranging from the dark intensity of Slayer, the all-enveloping Pink Floyd sound, to the sonic heaviness of early Metallica. The influences and playing styles are distilled into a heady, spicy waltz bordering on speed / thrash metal.

Threinody play a style that criss-crosses a landscape of musical genres encompassing explosive thrash metal, stoner-psychedelia and technical experimentation. The band’s music, always sonically and temporally dynamic, shifts moods, from brooding to energetic and in between. Threinody’s music is inscribed with lyrics of war, reincarnation, solitude and the various aspects of life and death.

Eschewing the blatant path trodden on repeatedly by most contemporary extreme music bands, Threinody’s music is heavy and subtle, at the same time. Sharing a healthy disdain for the exceedingly relative English terms mainstream, underground and commercial, the trio refuse to play music that is compartment-isable.

The trio, not afraid of experimenting and going `beyond’, collectively hold a healthy disregard for `convention’. Self-taught musicians, respecting the punk rock principle of `D.I.Y.’, Threinody fuse their varied playing styles into an unrelenting metal mesh.
